MicroNeedling
Here at The Facial Lounge; we use the SkinPen, which is the first FDA-cleared MicroNeedling device. It’s also made in the USA – which means it’s rigorously tested for safety.
The MicroNeedling procedure creates micro-channels (microscopic holes) at a rate of 1600 per second. These wounds stimulate your skin, kicking its healing process into high gear. Best of all, the results are natural and safe for all skin tones and types. Experience radiant results in as little as three treatment sessions!
How MicroNeedling Works:
Inflammation
The microneedles pierce the skin, triggering your immune system to disinfect the wounds, remove debris, increase blood flow, and begin to create new tissue.
Proliferation
The micro-wounds created are rebuilt with new granulation cells that include collagen proteins. Additionally, a new network of blood vessels develops.
Remodeling
The wound is replaced with new dermal tissues and blood vessels which are made up of rich collagen and elastin proteins. These proteins improve skin youthfulness.
Why Choose MicroNeedling:
- Rejuvenates from the inside out for younger looking skin
- Safe and effective, delivering results that last up to six months
- Quick-and-easy treatment with little to no downtime
- Proven to improve the appearance of acne scars and wrinkles, even on the neck
The MicroNeedling Procedure:
During your consultation and/or treatment, your Esthetician will likely recommend a course of procedures based on your individual skin care needs and goals. Maintenance of your procedure may require multiple treatments, in addition to following a consistent homecare routine with products that focus on improving the appearance and overall skin health.
Before the treatment begins, your Esthetician will apply a topical numbing agent to the treatment area to alleviate some discomfort. This typically will sit on the skin for about 25-30 minutes.
Your skin will be cleansed of the numbing cream, and serums chosen to target your concerns will be applied, which are penetrated to a deeper level through the micro-channels that the MicroNeedling device creates.
To achieve optimal results, multiple passes of MicroNeedling will be done – Usually 3-4 passes, with the condition of client tolerance and your Esthetician’s assessment of your skin throughout the treatment.
After the MicroNeedling portion of the treatment has ended, if a chemical peel is to be added; this is when it would be applied. Some discomfort of tingling, stinging and heated sensations can be expected. Post products to help calm and soothe the skin will be applied, as well as sunscreen.
The skin will typically appear slightly pink to red immediately post-procedure, similar to a mild to moderate sunburn. Additionally, the first few days after, most common treatment responses experienced are some dryness, rough texture, tightness, redness, itching, peeling, and tenderness. These conditions usually resolve without any further complications. Guidelines for proper product use will vary among individuals, however; a quality hydrator and sunscreen are a must!
